This weekend was a lot of fun. We got tickets for the KU football game vs. Texas Tech from Jill & Jared Pile – they have season passes and couldn’t make it to the game, so we graciously volunteered to take the tickets off of their hands! It worked out perfectly, because this was also the pharmacy school homecoming tailgate, so I got to go early and see a few of my friends from pharmacy school before the game as well. Amanda Vander Tuig, a college student here at PSU that we have become friends with, is from Baldwin City and was home for fall break so she kept the kids for us while we were at the game. It was so sweet of her to do this for us so that the kids could come with us, too.

The seats were AMAZING – the game stunk! Despite the fact that we got spanked by Tyler’s cousin, Graham Harrell (not really, but that’s what he’s been claiming all season), the seats made going to the game worth the whole trip! We sat in reclining seats in the end zone, with flat screen TVs in front of us for reviews and other football games / scores. There were no lines, and no wait for anything – even private bathrooms for only the people sitting in the end zone. Longhorn steakhouse catered during the whole game (as much as you could eat) and beer, wine, and other beverages were all INCLUDED!!! Waitresses walked through during the game to check on us. It was sort of unreal!! Tyler decided right then and there, that he would be naming his next child Jill or Jared, after giving us those seats!! The weather was perfect, to boot!

The kids had a blast at Amanda’s while we were at the game, and then we took them to the motel for swimming later in the evening. They enjoyed jumping on the beds and swimming in the pool. We stayed in a two room suite that night, and the kids loved it. They jumped on the beds, took turns pushing the elevator buttons, swam, and ate waffles with strawberries & whipped cream – needless to say, they loved it. We wore them out & headed home on Sunday. Tyler needed to shop for some work clothes on Sunday, but the kids just aren’t shoppers, and it just wasn’t worth the fight on Sunday, so we caved in and came home. The shopping will have to be put on the back-burner (again), and saved for another day!
