Tucker's 3rd Birthday Party

Well, I can hardly believe that it has been three years already, but last Sunday, we celebrated Tucker’s birthday. His party went off without a hitch. The weather was absolutely beautiful!! He wanted to go fishing for his birthday party so we had the party on our land. Tyler and I mowed the weekend before, and the kids helped Tyler make a few games to play as well. We rode 4-wheelers, went fishing in our boat, flew kites, played washers, horseshoes, and ladder ball, busted a piñata, roasted weenies & smores, and had cake and ice cream. He wanted a KU football party, so Grandma Nita decorated the cake as such, and we completed our tailgate with KU tattoos & crimson and blue beads for everyone! The day was perfect – and all without electricity or running water! Jill & Jared, our neighbors out there, let me use their kitchen to keep the cheese dips warm, and they even delivered a “Johnny-on-the-Spot” for us to have facilities while out there! Hey, not every three year old gets to have a port-a-potty at their birthday party! J

Everyone seemed to have a really good time, and we didn’t leave until dark – we cleaned up by car headlights! We always feel so blessed when we look around at our parties and realize how many great people that we have to love and are loved by. All of Tucker’s grandparents and aunts & uncles got to come this year, as well as Great-Grandpa & Grandma Thomas, Great-Grandpa Loyd, Great-Aunt Cheryl & Great-Uncle Gene, and numerous cousins, friends, and neighbors! It’s always a nice crowd that knows how to have fun. Grandpa Terry won the prize of catching the biggest fish, and Emma Brill was the one who broke open the piñata!

Presents were a big hit with Tucker this year. He loves to open them! SOME of the favs this year included his new bike, new black & white Shox, and a Leapster and some new games. The funniest gift was from Grandma Sherry & Papa Terry. They had wrapped up some of the “hillbilly teeth” in one of his presents and when he opened it up, he pulled them from the package and announced “USED TEETH”!! It was so funny. Jill and Jared Pile won the prize for coolest card, as we are still listening to it play “Who Let the Dogs Out” every time that he opens it!

All in all, we had a fabulous day until . . . we got home. Tucker had to try out his new bike, of course, and it was dark. He was riding it in the garage, lost control, and rode it straight into the back of our Denali (less than five minutes after being home) and put a ding in the bumper. No biggie really, but just the way that life with kids works, isn’t it? Next, however, was awful. He, of course, hops right back on and off he goes around and around in circles in the garage again. All was well, until he hit a patch of water, the bike flew out from under him, and he hit his head directly on the garage floor. It smacked so hard that I can still hear that sound in my head, and immediately, it bumped up literally like and egg on the back of his head! He never passed out, but I woke him up every hour until 3 am to check on him. It was a rough ending to a fun day, but he still loves the bike and asked me first thing he woke up the next morning if we could go ride bikes now! Needless to say, we don’t even ride in the garage anymore without our helmet on!

Thanks to everyone for making Tucker’s Day such a special, memorable day!
