I’m always asking the kids at the end of the day, “What was your favorite thing today?” So I thought that maybe I should share some of my favorite things from this week as well.
Monday: Eating lunch with Tyler & all the staff at The Plastic Resource Group at El Charro. Once a month, Tyler takes out all of his employees for lunch and then gives them an hour break following the lunch. It’s just something nice that we enjoy doing to help build comradeship between employees and gives us a chance to escape from “shop talk” for a while and learn more about who we are outside of the office.
Tuesday: Eating lunch with the girls at school. Anytime that we would like, we can go eat lunch with the girls in their classroom. They have been begging me to come, and I love it that I can go on Mondays or Tuesdays since I’m not at work, so this Tuesday was our first of many dates to come. It is amazing how much better little smokies and mac n’ cheese taste when shared with two cute little kindergarteners! I could tell that they were feeling pretty special while I was there, and they were so polite! It was amazing to me that they raised their hands like little ladies when they were done to get permission to scrape their plates & carry them to the stack to be cleaned! How come I can’t even get them to carry their plate to the sink at home (let alone scrape it clean first)! Anyway, I was very impressed with them being on their best behavior at school.
Wednesday: Tyler & I’s first experience of Parent-Teacher conferences. It went very well. The girls are doing great in school and Ms. Landrith says that they are a pleasure to work with in class. We always worry about our children and how well they are learning, so it is always reassuring to hear that they are doing well! It was a nice ending to a good day. The kids had fun that evening too, as they got to stay with our neighbors (their best friend) while we were at conferences.
Thursday: After I picked the kids up from school and Bev’s at 3:00, we went to the park until 5:00 when Tyler got off of work. I love having the afternoon / early evening time to devote to the kids before having to rush right into dinner. The more opportunities that I have to do these things, the more appreciative I am that I am only working three days per week, and only during the hours that they are in school anyway. Molly has learned to do the monkey bars by herself (she can do 15 in a row at school), Rayleigh’s favorite is the swings since she can swing herself now, and Tucker loves the slides. He thinks that he can do the monkey bars too, since his big sisters can, but he still needs some “spotting”!
Friday: TGIF!!! Need I say more?! I am worn out tonight, so I think my favorite part of today is just that it is the end of the week, and that we have Pitt State Homecoming to look forward to tomorrow. All the grandparents are coming over and we are going to the parade and football game tomorrow. The kids are wanting to tailgate, but we will see.
