All I Want for Christmas is . . .

Well, I sent all the kids to daycare today (the girls were out of school and Brian needed someone to work today) with all of their teeth in their mouths, and two returned home with a tooth each in a baggie! It was “all in a days work” for Bev. Needless to say, these were not the first teeth that Bev has ever pulled in her time as a daycare provider, and with a little coaxing from the “big kids”, they both got brave enough to let her tap the teeth out. They were both so loose that they really didn’t require much “pulling” to get them out! This was Molly’s first tooth to lose and Rayleigh’s second. The whole day then revolved around discussions of the tooth fairy visiting, and all of the logistics of such an event. Should we write a note asking to keep Molly’s tooth since it was her first one, where should we place the teeth, what if they get lost under our pillow, how much money will she leave, etc. It is quite the experience, as many of you have witnessed first hand.

We decided on leaving the teeth on the dresser (not too close to our heads – we are a little nervous about the tooth fairy being too close to us), with a note concerning Molly’s first big loss. I wish I would have had a camera the next morning, because as I rounded the corner to wake them up, I spotted them standing on the end of their bed on their very tippy toes, leaning over the dresser as if they were sneaking up on the teeth, and whispering to each other, “Did she come? Yea, I see some money! Oh and look, Molly, she left your tooth too, but she took mine!” They were so excited, and the whole scene was just way too precious!
