Ring, Ring . . . Hello

It's official - at the ages of two and five, our children received more phone calls than we did this evening for the first time ever. Pathetic, I know. I'm sure that this will be the first of many nights that this happens, but it was just about as sad as I can imagine. They are growing up too quickly.

It was so funny. We got home from daycare today, and we had no more than walked through the door when the first call came. It was Mattie & Gracie, two little girls from daycare. They are leaving on a trip (for the weekend) and had to tell the girls goodbye before they left. It was adorable. You would think that they were leaving for China!

Then another little girl from daycare, Santana, called and asked for Tucker. She didn't have much to say, just curious how the phone worked, I guess. Tucker's already a lady-killer at two, and going after the older women (Santana is six or seven, I think). Anyway, he answered the phone, "Hi! What's goin' on?" It was just too cute. They chatted for just a second and he says, "Ok, bye, love you" just like he is trained to do with Grandpa & Grandma! Hilarious!

I guess they have been drawing I-phones and I-pods and coloring them all week at daycare, and apparently been discussing calling one another at night. Amazing how things have changed at daycare. I remember discussing what color of crayon we were going to use next, but never discussed cell phones or MP3 players of any sort! What's next week - a Guitar Hero competition?
